Naturally, Stylish and Solid
The inherent radiant, expressive nature of moulded decor (columns, mouldings, mouldings, etc.) results in their stylish appearance every time. One will directly recognize the luxuriance of Baroque, the neatness of Classicism or the monolithic Empirical style. Thanks to the implementation of moulding production technology, using polystyrene and polyurethane, a new stage in the history of décor has begun.
| Idea #1 One of the essential advantages of moulded decor made of modern materials is their diversity. To be honest there exists the risk of “overdoing” things – everything is good within reasonable limits. The optimal choice would be to use three or four elements within one interior, for example: a column, baguette and cornice combined with a decorated bay make a wonderful, tastefully selected composition. | Idea #2 When arranging the “Choko” Coffee House interior, the customer set an objective to create a classic French room image – respectable and stylish. Baguettes, columns and other elements of moulded décor became the main components of the Paris image. The use of artificial ageing effect techniques in the modelling helped to recreate the required atmosphere. White décor made of polyurethane foam may be painted in any colour (to artificially make a surface look older or to imitate wood, stone or metal).
| Igor KORMACHEV, architect The use of moulded décors is justified not only from the point of view of “embellishment” (I think no one would argue with the fact that they are able to transform any interior, even the most common one). They visually mark off the space – widening and narrowing it if necessary; they may be used to install hidden lighting and to conceal some structural component. But still the main thing here is a style! Some people like ideal copies of the best decoration patterns of the past centuries, and some like modern shapes. New technologies in the production and application of modelling have made a decorator’s task much easier. It is almost impossible to distinguish visually the décor made of modern materials from gypsum or stone. These elements are strong and hard (and at the same time they are much lighter than the classic ones), they do not become yellow after a while and do not change shape. The simplicity of usage of these décors also attracts many customers. I appreciate them for their extreme simplicity of installation.
